Civil War

An endless slumber lies in fantasy
And though the sleepless nights that last an eternity
Keep alive your sick, twisted dreams
Even I am deaf to your internal screams.
No matter which side wins, part of you loses.
No matter how great the defeat you still end up with bruises.
But a bloody civil war is the only way
To make it through yet another day.
The darkness is evil, that’s why you fight,
But is the outcome really going to be alright?
For if you stare down your loaded gun
To hit your other half, have you really won?
A piece of you, ripped violently, slips out the door
Lost to the darkness forevermore.
Is it better now that it is gone?
A part of you wishes this never got so long.
And they say to fight it, don’t lose your head,
But if you try to do both, you’re better off dead.
Because the perpetual battle, at your heartstrings tore
Will never see victory
An everlasting
Civil war
