Art Matters.

Success as an artist isn't in the monetary value you accumulate from your work (though that doesn't hurt). We go through our lives as artists collecting, not dollars, but bits of the souls that we've touched. Art is about connection. Connection to yourself, connection to your Creator, to the people around you.

I haven't been myself lately, and I'm still working through that. Much like art, emotional intelligence isn't about "making it" in the sense that we have it all figured out. It's not about the money we make or what status we've built up. It's not even about being happy all the time. Emotional success, like art, is about connection, and it's about whose souls we touch with our stories. And most of the time we'll never know exactly who we've impacted and how important our art is to others.

See, this artist in particular is a friend, and even she doesn't know--I've "liked" countless pieces on Instagram but never taken the time to reach out and share how much it means to me (mainly because of anxiety and the constant nagging that everyone hates me, but I digress...)

To me, this art is about growth--as a human and as a spiritual being. I haven't been myself lately, but this week, this helped. It's inspired my inner creator and restored my hope. We are all still growing, and we are all beautiful even in our messy bits. And if anyone is, like me, struggling to find reasons to create, remember that your art matters. Even when you don't see it. It matters.
